National legislation
Normative acts that establish the national legal framework governing labour relations, pay, equal opportunities and prevention of sex-based discrimination in the Republic of Moldova.
International conventions and instruments
The international framework on equal pay and non-discrimination at work to which the Republic of Moldova has acceded or is to accede, setting global standards that underpin national legislative initiatives.
ILO Convention no. 100 (1951)
Obliges Member States to ensure equal pay for work of equal value, without discrimination on grounds of sex.
ILO Convention no. 111 (1958)
Provides for the elimination of discrimination in employment and occupation on any ground, including sex.
CEDAW Convention (1979)
Requires states to ensure the elimination of discrimination against women, including by guaranteeing equal pay and bias-free job evaluation.
Convention on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD, 1965)
Provides for the right to work and to fair remuneration, without discrimination on grounds of gender or race.
Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD, 2006)
Article 27 requires the provision of equitable working conditions, including equal pay for work of equal value.
EU Directive 2023/970
Provides for equal treatment in employment and at work and requires pay transparency, reporting and correction of gender gaps.

Provides for equal treatment in employment and at work and requires pay transparency, reporting and correction of gender gaps.
International Convention on the Rights of Migrant Workers (ICRMW, 1990)
Guarantees migrant workers the same treatment in terms of pay as the citizens of the host state.
International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR, 1966)
Article 7 guarantees the right to fair wages and equal pay for work of equal value.
European Social Charter (revised, 1996)
Articles 4 and 20 recognise the right to fair remuneration and to equal opportunities, including in remuneration, between women and men.
